MUSIDORA 06:13
Musidora You know what a silent movie sounds like. The flicker. The grain. And the scratching of time You know what a monochrome movie looks like. Yellow cab. Red lips. & burgundy wine. But do you know Did you see the face Of the girl who brought you to this place? Is she just a looker on the silverscreen screen Or did she write the film that you've just seen? To live your life in the movies must be living the dream To see your face... On the silverscreen. So glamorous, the cameras, The actors & directors. All the movie makers. Make up & costume. Your own dressing room. The critics come & the critics go. The punters pay to see the show. The old girl in the Box office nods them goodbye But she doesn't catch their eye. You know what a movie star looks like. The heels. The furs. Black kohl around the eyes. You know how a movie star walks. The elegance. The style. Sashays & sighs. But do you know Did you see the face Of the girl who brought you to this place? Is she just a looker on the silver screen Or did she write the film that you've just seen? To live your life in the movies must be living the dream To see your face... On the silverscreen. So glamorous, the cameras, The actors & directors. All the movie makers. Make up & costume. Your own dressing room. The critics come & the critics go. The punters pay to see the show. The old girl in the Box office nods them goodbye But she doesn't catch their eye. You know what the high life looks like. Paris and parties. Nights of champagne. You know what the high life sounds like. Phone calls & laughter A Rolls Royce in the rain. But do you know Did you see the face Of the girl who brought you to this place? Is she just a looker on the silver screen Or did she write the film that you've just seen?

CHRYSALLIS 04:54
There's an evil in science There's a witchcraft in the patience Of the learned woman Who watches the world. There is madness in nature And sooner or later They will hunt you down. Your mind is to bold. Within this political crysalis We hide, we liquify. But we don't decide if we grow or die. In this scientific revolution Men collect & catalogue & classify But a woman should not even chase a butterfly. In the rushes & sedges Women beating the hedges Searching for something. A parcel of wormes. Lunacy must have touched her. Somebody arrest her. Only the strange ones Have a longing to learn. Within this political crysalis We hide, we liquify. But we don't decide if we grow or die. In this scientific revolution Men collect & catalogue & classify But a woman should not even chase a butterfly. Send for string & brown paper Send a parcel to Petiver. Evil spirits in a package. Or so it would seem. Watch this dancing demon How could it be a reason For spoiling the butter Or curdling the cream.

PAPER GARDEN 04:29
Paper Garden. The wind blows in from a Cornish Sea These castle walls are no comfort to me. Held by the cold of a marital bed I see my breath before the books that I've read. A prisoner to society A teenage bride may call on death to set her free. Language is a carriage that crosses the sea. In an Irish garden grows a piece of me. From the darkness of Averno A tendril uncurls A door is open & her freedom returns. The prison crumbles with each flower that grows From her Hades, a garden arose. A paper garden arose. No place to call home. No roots to hold down. The way wildflower seeds on a breeze can be blown. Love is a flower. She takes her time. We all have our lives and I need to live mine. My face is creased. My hands are worn. Beautiful flowers still fall at my door. I read everyone. Each unique creation. With scissors & dye I invent imitations. I cannot preserve moments. I cannot still time. From such a dark place grew this paradise of mine. A paper garden arose. A paper garden arose.

BETTY KENNY 04:32
Betty Kenny Theres a baby cradled in the roots of this home, Who once was rocked from the boughs. A pillow of turf covers those tiny bones, As I rest in my beautiful tree house. Eight children were raised & rocked in this tree And though the rain floods under our beds Theres nowhere else that id rather be, When I kiss goodnight to those sleepy heads. Rock a bye baby In the tree top, Betty is working & Betty is earning. When the wind blows the cradle will rock, Betty is charcoal burning. After toiling & working for years & years, We earned ten pound & retired, But a theif in the night beat us & robbed us And soon after my poor husband died. On his funeral day, I wept as I walked. My love had been welly done. On my 100th day I danced & I talked At the big house with everyone. Rock a bye baby In the tree top, Betty is working & Betty is earning. When the wind blows the cradle will rock, Betty is charcoal burning. Bad boys came & burnt my tree down But by then, I was long gone. But my baby still sleeps in the roots of my home Still sing there for my little one. Rockabye baby in the treetop When the wind blows your cradle will rock When the bough breaks, your cradle will fall Down will come cradle, baby and all.

Isnt it strange to think that there is life in outer space? Isnt it stranger to think that there is none? And all of this time, the entire human race Has been unable to connect as one. The first earthling was a single celled thing. In places of perminent dark who is moving? To find life in an unlikely world Send in the searching girl, send in the searching girl. The searching girl can find life beneath the sea, Where the sun has never been And the darkness is thicker than sleep. The searching girl can find life within the sands, Where natures rough dry hands Rub the tears from arrid lands. The searching girl can find life within the caves, Where the slime reaches in waves and tiny microbes bathe. The searching girl can find life in outer space. A minute bacterial trace Is the sign of an alien race.

LYRICS: Against a backdrop of pain, The dragon whisperer smiles, She walks amid the snakes and the crocodiles. Girl in a garden beneath a grey London sky, How could she hear the repiles cry. She brings light to the reptile house, She counts the teeth in a crocodiles mouth. Regally adorned, snakes drip from her form. She gives light to the reptile house. Through the vita glass panes, The lizards slither and slide, In the sunlight, on the rocks, the reptiles hide. Girl in a wheelchair, her body broken and tired, With a dragon walking by her side. At the sound of her voice, the deaf creatures come, But the beasts were never deaf, The humans were dumb. Girl with a passion and on the day that she died, Could she hear the reptiles as they cried.

Shape of Earth The Dinwiddie sun will fall & set At the end of each day. The cotton grows and the cotton goes Dinwiddie away. I could work here forever like the folk before The cotton goes & the people stay. Would the breeze blow me on to something more. Dinwiddy away. Get out of this bed The world's not so big I can fit the whole thing in your phone. Lead by my head I will find my way out. Then I will show you the way home. Tobacco is beaten And packaged and sold. Cigarettes distributed by the load. Cotton is picked And woven & sewn And delivered by trucks on the road. I had to be silent When my sisters sang And marched beside Luther king I fed so many numbers To greedy computers Mathematics was my song to sing. The shape of the water, The shape of the earth, The timing of Pluto in motion. The height of the mountains, The depths of ravines, The satellite sensing of oceans Get out of this bed The world's not so big I can fit the whole thing in your phone. Lead by my head I left Dinwiddie behind So that I could show you the way home.

MOTHER JIJA 06:28
The Mother Jija. I carved my grief and built you a palace. My tears were the rain that watered your roots. Kisses for armour. Stories for a steed, I give you my heart to wear as your shield. Hold this gift in the palm of your hand, And when the time comes, give this gift to the land. This gift is a vision, my vision of freedom. Freedom is a foundation And you'll build your kingdom. Hold this gift in the eyes of your mind, And when the time comes, give this gift to mankind. This gift is respect. Respect for the living. For the men and the women. Keep my songs singing. Hold this gift in the warmth of your soul, And when the time comes, this gift finds you whole, This gift is love. Love and compassion. Love is a lesson That we cannot hasten. Keep my songs singing.

This blazing world. Caught up on this wretched ship, It keeps on sailing, Creakin, crashing, This ship is failing. The sailors once frozen, Are melting decay, But in another dimension, She is lifted away. There are rivers & islands, Towns built from diamonds, Subtraction is death But God has no emblem. Who is your God? Who is your God? Where is your science? Your religion, your language, Your philosophy? How many stars do you see? In this blazing world. Where is your air? How does your wind blow? And how do you know? How do you learn? How does your moon turn? How does your sun burn, in this blazing world In this blazing world. Your views are fake, Watch them break, See the world through your own eyes Rip down these lies! But truth lays us bare, It steals our dispute, In its presence all are wise... Or all would be fools. What do you value? Is it dirt or is it human. Or is it a part of you. Do you wear your tranquility Or drape yourself in vanity. Can you feel your own flaws? Find peace in your own wars? Have you found this blazing world? Who is your God? Where is your science? Your religion, your language, Your philosophy? How many stars do you see? In this blazing world. How does your moon turn? Your sun burn, In this blazing world.
